Cozy S Arlington duplex on quiet, tree-lined street - but close to everything! | House in Arlington
2 Bedroom House in Arlington Heights, Arlington
Won't you be our neighbor - at least for a little while? This sunny, cheerful, thoughtfully-appointed home has everything you need for a short visit or a long stay in Arlington, VA. It can sleep four comfortably, but can accommodate a fifth on the sleeper sofa or air mattress. We love well-behaved pets, but we charge an additional cleaning fee just to make sure any future guests with allergies feel welcome, too.
The home is filled with family heirlooms and pieces collected by us, our friends and our family during various international adventures. We've tried to be as ethical and climate-friendly as possible in updating and furnishing the house - and we're especially excited about the solar panels that are able to supply most of the electricity you'll use.
The first floor features a living room, dining room and kitchen. The living room includes a workspace and family area with a Roku-enabled TV, a comfortable vintage armchair, and a sofa that converts to a twin-size bed. The kitchen and dining room are fully-appointed with dishes, drip coffee maker, toaster, and all new appliances, including a convection range (there are convection-compatible pots and pans ready to use). Two bedrooms and a full bath are located on the second floor. The large bedroom includes a queen-sized bed, hand-made antique dresser and closet. There's room for a crib (not provided) or twin-sized air mattress (provided) for smaller children. The second bedroom includes an XL twin-sized daybed and a twin-sized trundle with a floating desk, tall dresser and closet. Washer, dryer and storage is available in an unfinished basement. There is a lockable bike shed and a private driveway that can accommodate two cars (back-to-back).
The property has a beautifully landscaped front yard with a raised-bed herb garden, and a smaller fenced back/side yard with a pet- and pollinator-friendly garden. There's also a picnic table nestled under flowering trees with solar-powered string lights and easy access to the kitchen - perfect for outdoor dining.
Our quiet, tree-lined neighborhood is diverse, affirming, and kid-friendly. But we're also right around the corner from bustling Columbia Pike, with walkable access to schools, playgrounds/parks, library, shops, and restaurants. We are close to the National Foreign Affairs Training Center (1.6 miles), Fort Myer (1.4 miles), the Pentagon (2.6 miles), Ballston Metro (2.1 miles) and Clarendon Metro (1.9 miles). Our street is on a dedicated "bike boulevard" and there's a Capital Bikeshare E-Bike stand on the next block over. If biking's not your thing, there's regular bus service right around the corner to the Pentagon/Pentagon City, National Landing, Clarendon, and direct to downtown DC.
Your hosts live in the neighborhood and are available to address any issues or questions as they arise, or just to loan a cup of sugar or give a restaurant recommendation. We are so excited to welcome you!
FAQS:
Q: Does the property include linens and towels?
A: Yes, we provide all linens and towels.
Q: What parking is available?
A: There is private, off-street parking that can fit two cars back-to-back.
Q: Are you close to a metro station?
A: The closest metro station is a long, but pleasant walk (40 minutes to Clarendon). It takes about 15-20 minutes by bike. There is very frequent bus service steps away on Columbia Pike, which goes to several metro stations and direct to downtown.
Q: Do you accept long-term renters?
A: Yes! We love long-term renters! If you are subject to government per-diem allowances, please reach out and we can figure out how to accommodate you.
Q: Is the house baby/pet proof?
A: Yes, to an extent. There is a baby/pet gate at the top of the stairs, and outlet covers for outlets not in use. Obviously we cannot guarantee that the house is 100 percent safe, and we urge guests to monitor their children and pets while in the property.
Q: Does the house have safety/emergency supplies?
A: There are carbon monoxide detectors, monitored smoke alarms, flashlights and fire extinguishers on each floor. We also have a monitored burglar alarm for both ground floor entry points which guests can use if it makes them feel more comfortable.
Q: Do you provide pantry supplies?
A: In an effort to reduce waste, we have stocked the pantry with commonly used, non-perishable items including salt, pepper, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, a few herbs/spices, and cooking oils. We also have a small collection of tea bags. We do not provide coffee - we've found most people prefer to bring their own, and what we stock gets stale quickly.
Q: Do you offer toiletries and cleaning/paper supplies?
A: We provide toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, basic cleaning supplies (including dish soap, dishwasher and laundry detergent), and hand soap. We do not provide personal toiletries such as shampoo, etc.
