Historic Barnstable Village is one of the Cape's most charming settings, lined with sea captains' homes, art galleries, boutiques, and restaurants along the scenic Old King's Highway (Route 6A).
The closest beach is Millway Beach on Barnstable Harbor, a calm bayside spot about a 6 minute drive away (1.7 miles), where seasonal whale watch cruises also depart. For more beach days, Gray's Beach and its scenic boardwalk are about 13 minutes, Sandy Neck Beach and its 1826 lighthouse about 15 minutes around the Great Marshes, and Craigville Beach on Nantucket Sound about 13 minutes south.
About 15 minutes south are Hyannis and Hyannis Port, home of the Kennedy Compound (best seen from a sightseeing cruise), the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum, Main Street shops and dining, and ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. The village is also home to the Sturgis Library, the oldest library building in the United States.
A car is the easiest way to explore Cape Cod, and the home offers free on site parking for four vehicles in the private driveway and beside the garage, plus an EV charger.
Scenic Route 6A runs through the village, and Route 6, the Cape's main highway, is just minutes away for reaching the rest of the peninsula.
Hyannis, about 15 minutes south, is the Cape's transportation hub, with ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, the regional bus terminal, and the Hyannis airport (Cape Cod Gateway Airport). Rideshare and taxis are available but can be limited, so a car is recommended for your stay.
The home sits beside the scenic Cape Cod Central Railroad. Expect roughly 2 to 4 slow moving train pass bys on most weekdays, with a bit more activity on summer weekends when the excursion and dinner trains run. The trains travel at low speed and many guests, especially children, love watching them go by. If you are particularly sensitive to sound, please take this into account before booking.
For your peace of mind there are two security cameras on the exterior of the home. There are no cameras inside.
The home has three floors and staircases. A bedroom and full bathroom are located on the first floor
